When do classes run?
Classes usually run on weekends. The Non-Restricted Course runs on Saturdays from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. Restricted Courses run on Sunday from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.
Depending on class size these may end early, however we are always willing to stay late to answer any questions you may have, or to handle training firearms longer if you wish.

Colwood Pacific Activity Centre, located at 2610 Rosebank Road, Colwood, BC.
Do you break for lunch?
Yes! There is a Tim Hortons, Wendy’s, A&W and Thrifty Foods nearby. You can bring your own lunch.

What is acceptable government Photo ID?
A driver’s licence, passport, status card, military ID, or similar government issued card bearing your photo. If you are not sure, contact us!
What is the minimum age to take the course?
You must be at least 12 years old to take the Non-Restricted Firearms course. Students between the ages of 12-18 must have written parental/guardian consent, and upon successful completion will be eligible to apply for a Possession Only Minor’s Licence. They can later apply for a regular Possession Acquisition Licence (PAL) at age 18.
Anyone aged 18 and older can apply for both licences (Restricted and Non-Restricted).
Do I need a Firearms Manual?
We recommend the manual be read by anyone without a background in firearms. You can purchase this at most sporting good stores, or click the attached link and download it for free

Can you give any hints for passing the course?
We recommend reading the Firearms Manual. Pay special attention to the definitions at the end of the book, and be familiar with the questions found at the end of each chapter. If you notice at triangle with a “!” inside, this is important point to remember.
How long will it take to get my Licence?
Once you have completed the course and passed the examinations for the CFSC/CRFSC, we will give you the PAL application form that you complete and send to the RCMP. There is a 28 day waiting period and after that point, it will start to be processed. The RCMP standard is to process a licence in 45 days, however due to backlogs presented by the COVID-19 Pandemic, it is taking several months. It may take longer if there are backlogs or problems with your application.
Can I apply on line for my Firearms Licence?
We will provide you with the Application Form to apply for your Firearms Licence by mail but you may also have the option of applying online. We have attached the link for the online application.

Can I check on the Status of my application?
If you are concerned about your PAL application you can use the RCMP’s web services to check the status of your PAL or you can call the RCMP at 1-800-731-4000.
How long is a PAL Valid?
A PAL is valid for 5 years and generally expires on your Birthday like your Driver’s Licence.
